The Desert Southwest Region (DSW) is one of four regions of Western Area Power Administration. DSW sells power in Arizona, southern California, and portions of the Southwest, to wholesale customers such as towns, rural electric cooperatives, public utility and irrigation districts, Federal, state, and military agencies, Native American tribes, investor-owned utilities, power marketers, and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation customers.
The Regional Manager is responsible for managing the Western Area Power Administration's Desert Southwest Region which includes a staff of Federal employees and contractors. This position reports directly to Western's Administrator. The position has complete responsibility for the management and execution of all engineering, operations, maintenance, power management, marketing, and customer functions delegated to the Region, in a quality conscious work environment that is sensitive to the needs, interests, and concerns of customers and stakeholders. Initiates, plans, and develops broad power resources development, distribution, and marketing policy recommendations; power resources management planning and marketing of electrical energy for the Region; recommends wholesale power rate schedules; maintains electrical power reliability within the region; directs activities related to environmental quality, preservation, enhancement, and compliance activities; and provides leadership and direction in job safety and health hazards.
