Primary Purpose
The primary role of this position is to oversee advancement of Company's hydrogen and sustainability initiatives in low/no carbon energy. These initiatives include, but are not limited to, development of hydrogen infrastructure -- with an emphasis on transportation, electric generation, production and storage. Provide direction and supervision of workstreams supporting the development of new products, services and projects and supporting SDG&E's goal of continuing to be a critical element of the successful transition of California to a low-carbon energy mix.
Duties and Responsibilities
Drive strategy, development, and execution of various projects related to hydrogen infrastructure in the transportation, electric generation, production and storage sectors. Manages direct reports and assigned team resources and oversees workstreams that support project objectives.
Introduce projects, product offerings and services to potential markets and communicate SDG&E's energy and sustainability strategies.
Establish and cultivate effective business relationships with key industry players within markets such as transportation, renewable project development community, hydrogen equipment providers, manufacturing, industrial gases, agriculture waste stream sectors and other sectors/agencies such as the Port of San Diego, San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS).
Interface with functional groups (e.g., engineering, operations, environmental & sustainability, regulatory, legal, tax, energy supply, advanced clean technologies) within SDG&E to mobilize and align internal resources.
Represent SDG&E in external forums, including discussions with stakeholders and industry events.
Responsible for reporting to SDG&E senior management team on initiative progress, project updates, and decision points.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Business, Engineering, Marketing, Economics or related field required.
12 years related experience, with at least 5 years of experience in market development, preferably with a focus in the energy sector required.
3 years supervisory experience required.
Track record of management experience, including hands-on supervision and support in professional development of reports and junior members of the group required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience with electric and gas industry and new energy technology highly desirable preferred

Ability to motivate employees, drive innovation and lead change initiatives while maintaining employee engagement.
Strong understanding of commercial and regulatory environment facing new products, services and projects developed by the group, ability to process and interpret market feedback and change direction of initiatives in development as needed.
Strong negotiating skills and ability to resolve contractual issues.
Strong business development and financial acumen with ability to assess impacts of a project to the Company.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
