New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) is seeking a Manager Damage Prevention & Safety Awareness position to manage NJNG Damage Prevention Program including excavation and general gas safety awareness as required under federal and state guidelines. Promote gas company pipeline safety programs with local municipalities and industry stakeholders to meet our Energy Delivery team’s safety goals.
Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of NJNG’s Damage Prevention and Excavation Damage Prevention Education Programs;
• Perform periodic audits of contractor records including training and equipment
• Review documents for compliance with state regulations
• Prepare periodic damage reports for regulatory submission
• Conduct pipeline safety training related to excavation damage prevention safety
• Provide state and federal damage prevention regulation training within the company
• Plan and schedule participation in local events with a focus on pipeline safety
• Audit company damage prevention programs required for federal and state regulations
• Represent company at various industry-sponsored events
• Ensure contract companies comply with our Damage Prevention contract
• Assist department manager with regulatory audits
• Provide guidance to company damage claim department; update company damage prevention standards to align with current regulatory mandates
Position Specifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Minimum four years of experience in underground facility protection
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to comprehend regulatory language
• Individual must meet Operator Qualifications requirements as defined under 49 CFR 192 Subpart N
• This is a Safety Sensitive position and individual must submit to random drug and alcohol test as defined under 49 CFR 199
