NJR is seeking a Director Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to develop and implement diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy, governance, framework and risk mitigation across the Company and align these strategies, goals and objectives with talent and business strategies. Develop strategic partnerships with diverse groups, communities and Company vendors. Develop training and initiatives to create and foster an open and inclusive environment.
Major Responsibilities:
• Builds multi-year DEI framework and associated strategy
• Develop policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce
• Evaluate DEI initiatives that align with the unique needs of the Company
• Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and embrace diversity, equity and inclusion
• Create or coordinate purchase of e-learning diversity training materials and coordinates in-person and online training
• Maintain current knowledge on DEI trends, developments and programs through strong external relationships such as professional associations and educational groups
• Partner with business leaders to formulate and execute DEI strategies and tactics that result in driving action and change across the Company
• Design and deliver educational cultural and diversity presentations, workshops, and learning modules
• Analyze employment activities such as applicant flow, new hires, terminations, transfers, and promotions to identify opportunities to promote diversity initiatives
• Provide consultation in designing and implementing policy changes to ensure diversity, equity, and respect for all employees
• Partner with Legal to ensure compliance and mitigate risk associated with state and federal laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination and harassment, and ensuring affirmative action (e.g., EEOC and OFCCP laws and regulations) and alignment with the Company’s DEI strategy
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory and policy developments affecting areas of responsibility
• Manage internal metrics around DEI, to include representation and other measures that drive accountability and support the broader strategies within the Company
• Identify and recommend strategies for enhancing DEI efforts within the Company
• Work closely with the recruiting team and HR business partners to develop effective diversity recruiting strategies and programs
• Ensure annual submission of EEO-1 and Vets reports for all facilities; provides thought leadership and vendor management around these processes to ensure maximum efficiency, focus and strategic impact
• Oversees and ensures annual preparation of DEI annual report and affirmative action plans in compliance with all OFCCP requirements
• Lead the Company’s DEI council and integrated company-wide effort in enhancing diversity and inclusion
• Develop and maintain external strategic diversity partnerships to advance community engagement
• Partner with procurement manager to promote supplier diversity and engage business units to ensure accountability
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration or closely related field plus five years of related human resource experience, including preparation and implementation of training materials and diversity initiatives; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Master’s degree plus two years of management-level experience preferred
• Previous experience in developing a DEI strategy and implementing programs/initiatives
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office including Word, Power Point and Excel
• Experience in regulatory compliance, workforce analytics and affirmative action planning, including OFCCP requirements for federal contractors preferred
• Experience in analyzing and interpreting numerical data, and translating analyses into meaningful recommendations including mitigating legal exposure
• Experience with supplier diversity programs and diversity recruiting preferred
• Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), Certified Diversity Executive (CDE), Cornell Certified Diversity Professional (CCDP) or other related diversity certification preferred
