NJR is seeking a Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst to provide support for the Company’s external reporting requirements, prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, research applicable SEC regulations and assist with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Oversee employee benefit plan reports and related audit; provide support on other financial reporting and technical accounting functions as necessary. Partner with Treasury team to provide finance and accounting support for various transactions and debt offerings.
Major Responsibilities:
• Prepare Form 10-Q and 10-K footnote disclosures and supporting documentation
• Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately; leverage analytics to support management discussion and analysis in SEC filings and draft related commentary
• Train users in the external reporting software and assist in transitioning accounting/finance spreadsheets from Excel
• Manage the external reporting software data collection process, which includes validating the data for completeness and accuracy
• Prepare and maintain quarterly reporting calendar; manage timeline and deliverables from key personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of SEC filings
• Review/analyze information received for completeness and accuracy and compare support to various financial reports
• Maintain financial reporting SOX support to ensure compliance
• Assist with XBRL mapping and maintenance
• Assist with regulatory reporting and associated audits
• Research and benchmark Company disclosures and XBRL to other SEC financial filings
• Prepare and review employee benefit plan financial statements and assist with audit process
• Assist with research, implementation and/or analysis of effects of new authoritative accounting guidance or SEC compliance initiatives
• Liaison with Treasury department on bank compliance reporting; prepare covenant financial ratio calculations
• Align with corporate communications on earnings press release and annual report to shareholders
• Special projects as needed to support the technical requirements and process improvements of the functions
• Partner with Treasury to provide finance and accounting support for various transactions and debt offerings as necessary
Position Specifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required; CPA a plus
• 3-5 years of related experience required
• Commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills; attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to satisfy multiple requests and deadlines
• Strong computer and software application skills; proficient in Microsoft Office
• Working knowledge of Workiva Wdesk external reporting software and Oracle Applications Cloud a plus
