Basic Function:
New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a division of New Jersey Resources, is seeking a Gas Control Supervisor to supervise and monitor the gas control and gas dispatching functions to provide safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our transmission and distribution system.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage the operations and maintenance of the Gas Control SCADA system
Oversee daily activities and conduct regular status meetings to maintain all system pressures within established limits; adjust all pressures for seasonal needs
Attend weekly meetings and create monthly activity reports
Provide technical guidance to Gas Controllers.
Attend daily T&E operation meeting and supply detailed information on city gate send out estimates and weather forecasts
Manage expenses on a monthly basis; monitor interruptible use and maximize the availability of interruptible sales with timely meetings with the Gas Supply area.
Enhance training programs to keep Gas Controllers current with new equipment, software, and pipeline systems.
Maintain current knowledge of related federal regulations and communicate with appropriate departments and contractors on a regular basis
Develop strong working relationships with other gas companies, suppliers, and related industry and user groups to foster a productive exchange of ideas
Plan and assess proposed equipment installations and maintenance tasks for transmission and distribution systems
Position Specifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or other related field, or the combined equivalent in education and experience required
At least five years of experience in the gas industry
Basic understanding of instrumentation and pressure regulation required
Familiarity with various city gate and pressure measurement stations
Occasional climbing and/or balancing required
Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching, crawling and/or reaching
The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment
Occasional hazardous or unusual conditions
Availability during non-scheduled hours required
