Perform detailed inspection and evaluation of various equipment and systems from the perspective of a design engineer for proper installation, problem identification and trouble-shooting or improvement.
Review tasks undertaken by others in the group and provide guidance during project initiation and scoping as to project organization and goals
Evaluate technical proposals & functional designs and provide failure analysis as needed for various disciplines, and provide recommendations based on sound engineering principles to NYPA Engineering for review.
Supervise the activities of site field office personnel to verify contractor performance to comply with contract and design specifications.
Act as liaison between Headquarters and on-site staff in the provision of principal on-site construction expertise.
Provide technical guidance in on-site O&M and start-up activities when necessary.
Render technical or design recommendations to the cognizant design engineer acquainted with the design, when necessary.
Manage field changes with Change Order and engineering procedures.
Review construction drawings, specifications, and related documents for constructability, milestone schedules, and deliverables of major equipment.
Make comments and recommendations for construction logistics including site layout, temporary structures / accommodations, and project accessibility.
Anticipate field construction constraints and initiate corrective actions.
Recommend improvements for increased field productivity and provide support to field personnel on construction problems relative to contact documents interpretation, labor relations, cost and schedule and general construction items.
Interface with Construction Engineers / Project Managers and provide guidance and direction in solving field erecting/construction problems.
Prepare and review construction cost estimates.
Review site budget administration of all cumulative Construction Management activities and resolve claims by contractors.
Attend the Contractor’s Weekly Safety Toolbox Meetings as well as the Daily Task Meetings for the Contractors. Review Scheduling Conflicts.
Coordinate staffing obtaining and holding “clearances”.
