Gainesville Regional Utilities’ (GRU) Water/Wastewater Systems Planning Department is seeking an Engineer IV to perform professional and technical engineering work involving a variety of engineering projects including water and wastewater facilities planning, evaluation of hydraulic systems, review of development plans, design of water distribution and treatment systems, design of wastewater collection and treatment systems, and construction oversight of a wide variety of utility projects.
To be considered for this position you must possess a Bachelor of Science in engineering degree from an ABET accredited educational institution and six (6) or more years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility. Appropriate co-op time and/or an advanced degree in engineering, business or other relevant courses of study may substitute for up to one year of experience. The candidate is expected to maintain current knowledge of latest engineering advancements in field. Continuing education is required to maintain currency in assigned engineering discipline, regulatory and other related knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field from an Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution and progressive engineering experience with knowledge of hydraulics, water and wastewater pipeline design, water and wastewater treatment processes, GIS systems, engineering economics, and familiarity with construction techniques. Strong leadership and communications skills are preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid State of Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred, or I.E. (Engineer Intern) with eligibility to obtain P.E. for Engineer IV position. If non-Florida, professional engineering license must be eligible to seek reciprocity to obtain FL PE. Once professional license is obtained, must meet the FBPE requirements as defined in Chapter 471 of the Florida Statute and maintain “Professional Engineer” Licensing as required by Water/Wastewater Engineering, Public Works, Energy Delivery and Principal Engineers assigned to the water/wastewater, and special projects areas of Strategic Planning.
