Senior Mechanical Engineer, Heat Exchanger Design
Job Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer, Heat Exchanger Design leads the heat exchanger engineering efforts. This person is responsible for techno-economic analysis, CAD, FEA, CFD, controls, test design/validation for all heat exchangers in Carbon America’s systems. This role reports to the Chief Engineer.
Education, Experience, Skills:
· BS with 6 years of experience, MS with 4 years of experience, or PhD with 2 years of experience is required
· Thorough knowledge in various types of heat exchangers is required
· SolidWorks (or similar CAD software) modeling and simulations experience is preferred
· Experience in an R&D setting is preferred
· Experience and knowledge in designing to ASME Section VIII is a plus
· P&ID, Instrumentation selection, DAW, Plumbing Design experience a plus
Essential Responsibilities:
· Perform a variety of engineering tasks including design, analysis, material selection, building, testing, and validation for heat exchangers
· Understand fundamental principles for designing economically optimal heat exchangers for a variety of design requirements
· Design and build end-to-end tests for HXs
· Develop detailed and accurate capital cost models for near-term to long-term heat exchanger costs
General Requirements:
· Full time, salaried exempt employee
· Maintains a standard schedule of 40+ hours per week
· Travel to meetings and conferences may be required
