Manages projects and coordinate the design, construction and maintenance support of major electric utility transmission facilities, providing direction and support on transmission design, maintenance and vegetation management activities. Develops and implements the documentation for transmission facility compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards. Performs electrical utility system engineering, design, and other design assignments requiring highly developed knowledge of a specific engineering discipline, ethical behavior and the exercise of highly developed professional judgment.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent mechanical/electrical training from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum is required.
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible engineering design is required in addition to the educational requirement. Experience must include the development of specifications, detailed estimates, economic studies and evaluations, and the analysis of complex engineering problems. Knowledge of overhead transmission engineering and construction methods and applications is beneficial. Licensure/registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
Essential Functions
Provides technical direction and support for Transmission Services Team in the performance of their design, construction, maintenance, and testing responsibilities.
Coordinates and integrates the activities of internal and external departments, from inception project to completion, in the following areas: project definition, route selection, engineering and equipment specifications and design, permitting, construction and close-out.
Evaluates bid proposals, recommends bidders, and assembles presentation data for Board action, as required
