CMDB Asset Management Administrator

NJR is seeking a CMDB Asset Management Administrator to help define, implement and integrate policies and procedures to support the configuration management database (CMDB). Responsible for hardware, application software, operating system and other desktop/server software asset management duties within IT.  Maintains the asset management databases containing information regarding contract service (expiration and EOL) terms, warranties, device configurations, aggregate quantities and service agreements for the organization's IT related hardware and software.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

 

•            Implement best practices to support a collection of up-to-date and inter-related configuration items in ServiceNow CMDB about IT infrastructure, applications and services to ensure data completeness and accuracy

•            Support design, development and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating and maintaining CMDB data

•            Work with internal stakeholders to define and implement all mechanisms needed to ensure full control of the product owners Configurable Items (CI)

•            Assist in defining and registering of CIs the appropriate level of attributes and relationships required to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes

•            Responsible for performing status accounting/reporting, verification and auditing the CMDB

•            Monitor and evaluate the use and health of the CMDB and associated processes

•            Assist in establishing a formal CMDB governance model and creation of key performance indicators (KPIs)

•            Key stakeholder supporting CMDB tasks to include the configuration management plan and standard, monitoring CMDB health, communicating CMDB activities and assist in training other technology team members on how to utilize the CMDB

•            Helps maintain and monitor hardware/software inventory database to ensure compliance

•            Tracks and provides reporting on hardware agreements, warranties and hardware product lifecycle

•            Work with application owners, infrastructure and database teams to troubleshoot application mapping failures

•            Work with systems managers to ensure that the Discovery tool has the appropriate access and permissions to capture configuration information

•            Work with application owners to create and validate service maps for all ITS applications which maps ensure the monitoring of applications with attention to specific nodes and their connections to servers, switches, databases and applications

•            Perform day-to-day administration of the ServiceNow Service Mapping/Discovery tool, including mapping additional defined business services into the tool and updating discovery configurations for deeper network penetration

•            Provide visibility to Discovery's performance and issues via the development and deployment of unified CMDB dashboards.

•            Coordinates a physical inventory and tracks all hardware devices

                                                                              

Position Specifications: 

•            Bachelor’s degree in computer science or technical certification required

•            At least five years of experience in an Information Technology focused role required

•            At least three years of experience in a CMDB and Asset Management focused role required

•            ServiceNow Administrator certification a plus

•            Solid understanding of Configuration Management practices and principles

•            Experience implementing ServiceNow CSDM desired

•            ITIL foundations or higher-level certification preferred

•            Strong written and verbal communications skills within multiple levels of the organization and both internal and external stakeholders.

•            Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently

•            Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with good interpersonal skills

•            Experience in utility industry a plus

•            Valid Driver’s license as travel required
