New Jersey Natural Gas, a subsidiary of NJR is seeking an Outreach Program Specialist.
Basic Function:
The Outreach Program Specialist is responsible for advancing the Company’s outreach program to educate customers on energy assistance programs, including low income programs like: Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Universal Service Fund, NJ SHARES, PAGE, and Lifeline, as well as weatherization programs. Raise awareness of low-income weatherization programs, exhibit at local events, present to targeted groups; and partner with municipalities and local community organizations to increase participation in programs designed to help income qualified customers meet their energy burdens.
Major Responsibilities:
•Increase enrollment of customers in energy assistance and energy efficiency programs.
•Establish and maintain key working relationships through partnerships with various state, local and community and faith-based organizations to promote and leverage maximum energy assistance dollars
•Engage in proactive outreach to community stakeholders, Community Action Programs (CAPS) and other state and local agencies to promote and increase customer participation; educate organizations and individuals helping to serve the needs of our customers that are not fluent in English
•Work with Customer Services and Corporate Communications teams to develop internal and external training, communications and outreach materials
•Assist in the customer participation tracking
•Maintain current knowledge of assistance programs and provide other resources on energy assistance and energy efficiency programs.
Position Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years of experience in program coordination, preferably for energy assistance programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Strategy and other Microsoft and desktop applications required
- Strong organizational and customer relations skills are required.
- Potential non-traditional business hours to support community stake holder’s needs for outreach at weekend and evening events to reach and enroll targeted audience.
- Ability to network and maintain partnerships with key trade allies, industry professionals and regulators.
