New Jersey Natural Gas, a subsidiary of NJR is seeking an Operations Training Manager to plan, design and develop, deliver and evaluate technical training programs that ensure full compliance with the Company's safety policies and programs, and existing and future governmental codes and regulations. The Operations Training Manager will manage a training team and curriculum to ensure the delivery of initial new hire, continuous and emergent business needs training in a timely and economical manner. Training will be for all aspect regarding the operation and maintenance of NJNG transmission and distribution gas system.

Major Responsibilities: 
•Design, plan and effectively deliver training to all levels of employees
•Identify and develop training materials and curriculum; Pre-work, Trainer deck, participant guide, learning aids, quizzes, exams and hands on modules 
•Acts as a Subject Matter Expert to provide regarding the educational aspect of delivering and communicating training programs 
•Reviews work with vendors, technical experts, engineers and field personnel to provide operational input into the selection and operation of new equipment and technology and the development of new operating standards
•Interpret state and federal codes for field personnel, as required and effectively develop and implement training programs in accordance 
•Evaluate performance during and after training by conducting follow-ups with employees through field visits, observation/coaching and refresher training 
•Assist in the development of O&M and corporate standards and the subsequent related work procedures.
•Use Learning Management System's (LMS) to coordinate, track and report on employee training
•Provide leadership, direction, performance appraisals and coaching in the management and professional development of the Instructional Training staff
•Prepare and manage the departmental strategy, goals and budget within assigned areas of responsibility
•Identify and implement corrective actions to avoid potential accidents and procedural violations
•Work closely with management to ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal DOT and OSHA rules related to all program qualification requirements and procedure adherence
•Effectively manage training costs and resources
•Work closely with the Manager – Operator qualification to ensure training material and curriculum is preparing employees to pass OQ tests 
•Mentor other trainers in the subject matter, content, and course delivery techniques for assigned technical courses
•Effectively implement field quality audit programs
•All other duties as assigned

Position Specifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Education, Instructional Design or related discipline
•Advanced Degree preferred
•10 years knowledge and experience in the gas and utility industry 
•Experience with Instructional Design Techniques, architecture and curriculum.
•Working knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting utility training and evaluation
•Previous supervisory/managerial experience
•Experience developing, implementing, tracking and evaluating training
•Must be highly motivated, have excellent presence and strong written and oral communication skills
•Knowledge of PC-based computer applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and particularly PowerPoint
•Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
•Critical thinking skills and ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences
•Ability to build partnerships and influence others regardless of level
•Experience managing a training budget and resources
