Purpose_________________________________________________________
Aligned Climate Capital LLC (Aligned) is an investment advisor focused exclusively on sustainable real assets. Aligned is a dynamic and mission-driven company at the forefront of climate finance. It is seeking candidates who are self-motivated, innovative, and committed to using financial tools to address climate change.
This position will have key responsibilities in two areas: (1) regular accounting operations, including the bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for Aligned and its 12 affiliated companies; and (2) asset management for Aligned’s approximately 25 megawatt (MW) portfolio of distributed solar power generation facilities, including managing monthly system reporting, managing third-party operations and maintenance providers, monetization of renewable energy certificates (RECs), and accounts payable and receivable.
Duties and Responsibilities_________________________________________
The Controller will have the following duties and responsibilities, and has opportunities for growth and advancement:
Controlling
· Maintain internal books of account for all Aligned entities;
· Invoicing;
· Manage cash for all entities, including setting up A/P for payment, and monitoring A/R;
· Prepare monthly trial balances and other financial reports for management;
· Manage annual tax and financial accounting reporting cycle with outside accountants and auditors.
Asset Management
· Monitor generation of solar assets on a monthly basis, and report to Aligned Solar Partners team and management;
· Manage third party operation and maintenance (O&M) contractors;
· Manage marketing and sale of Renewable Energy Credits in coordination with Aligned’s broker;
· Cash budgeting for Aligned entities that own solar assets;
· Contract management;
· Manage insurance;
· Implement asset management protocols and best practices; and
· Support Aligned’s senior management (Managing Director and General Counsel) in structuring and servicing debt for solar assets (construction and permanent).
Qualifications____________________________________________________
· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
· Seven to Ten years of experience in accounting. Experience in asset management desirable but not required.
· Proven analytical skill. Financial modeling skill desirable but not required.
· Experience with management of service contracts, insurance, portfolio performance monitoring.
· Proven ability to present information for expert and non-expert audiences.
· Experience in renewable energy, energy, or real estate is desirable but not required.
