Executive Manager of Business Services

The City of Denton (estimated population of 141,300) is seeking a strong, competent, and highly ethical professional with proven management, analytical, and problem-solving skills to be the Executive Manager of Business Services. Reporting to the General Manager, the position will provide utility-wide support for the development of business plans, cost-benefit analysis, financial case analysis for programs and services, and the development, monitoring and reporting of performance metrics. Denton Municipal Electric (DME) is Denton's hometown electric provider and has been serving the greater Denton area since 1905. It is the 6th largest municipally owned utility in Texas with a 372-megawatt peak load. DME has 189 positions authorized in the FY 2019-20 budget with budgeted operating expenditures of $229.3 million and capital expenditures of $39.82 million. Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these qualifications is with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, a Master’s degree is desired; Ten years of progressive supervisory and/or management experience in any field, as well as ten years of progressive electric utility experience work experience. Possession of a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field can substitute for five years of electric utility work experience. The anticipated hiring range will be $140,872 to $164,116 annually, DOQ, in addition to a highly competitive benefits package.
