Job Description:
Provides management and technical leadership for EDO personnel involved with the development, design, and implementation of protective relay settings related to distribution circuits. Works cross-functionally with other departments such as Distribution Control Center, Distribution Reliability, Substation Engineering, Substation Maintenance and Construction and Transmission to execute capital programs.Leads investigation on an as-needed basis of protection system mis-operations and other system events to identify improvements or changes needed to improve system reliability.Plans and controls activities so as to provide an accident-free work place while demonstrating a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.Ensures processes, policies, and guidelines is properly documented and updated in a timely manner.Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggest improved methods.Represents the company in industry organizations.Maintains a knowledge base of current industry standards and evaluates new technology and equipment for application on the electric distribution system.Effectively communicates with management, customers, and employees, both verbally and in writing.Performs other duties as assigned by Manager, Electrical Engineering and Planning.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Eight or more years of engineering, engineering management or equivalent engineering work experience. Extensive knowledge of power systems, relay systems, and utility engineering principals. Must be self-driven and be able to delegate assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong time management and organizational skills that have been consistently demonstrated. Excellent interpersonal and team building skills, and solid communication skills. Sound technical awareness along with the ability to analyze and solve problems from both engineering and business perspectives. Ability to balance action and information seeking. Willingness to be involved in industry working groups and drive for awareness of utility best practices and trends. Professional Engineer License preferred.
