Production Technician

This position is located in Brandywine, Maryland.

Reports directly to the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor

When assigned as an Outside Operator while filling in as a Control Room Operator (CRO), takes direction from the Control Room Operator (CRO)


This position will be responsible for the following -


Plant Operations:

· Gas and Steam Turbine and Generator Start Up, Base Load Operation, and Shutdown

· Maintaining awareness of Plant Equipment Operating Status

o Identifying any abnormal plant condition and taking the appropriate corrective actions

· Ensuring proper Operations of the Chemical Control systems when assigned

o Ensuring compliance with Environmental Regulations and all local, state and federal environmental permits using Plant Operations Procedures.

o Ensuring an Adequate supply of Chemicals and Gasses to support plant Operations.

· Accurately Document Plant Operating Events. This includes Trip Reports, and Log Book Entries.

o Provide the CRO Operator Log-Sheets after readings are taken to discuss the need for Corrective Action.

· Supporting plant emergency activities. Communicate such activities to the CRO and management immediately

· Fill in as a CRO assigned as an Outside Operator when directed by the Operations Manager.


Plant Safety

· Responsible for following Proper Safety Procedures during Operations and Maintenance activities, including LOTO, Hazardous Work and Hazardous Work Permitting.


Maintenance Activities

· Performing Shift Operations and Maintenance PMs.

· Performing Sampling and taking corrective actions to maintain proper Plant Chemistry

· Troubleshooting, overhaul, and maintenance of all machinery commonly found in power plants with special emphasis on Transmitters, PLC's, Control Valves, HVAC, Pumps, Motors, fans, blowers, and Control Systems.

· Testing, calibration, and repair of all types of electrical transmitters, temperature thermocouples, Gas Turbine instruments, and Steam Turbine instruments.

· Coordinating and directing subcontracted maintenance and construction activities.

Reviewing, performing, and updating work orders assigned.

· Assisting in developing and improving the facility's preventive and predictive maintenance programs

· Tracking and inventory of spare parts and consumables through the use of the work management system, SAP.

· Performing other assigned collateral duties

· Integrating with the Operations Department when required.


Communications Activities

· Providing a continual update of operating activities to the Control Room Operator (CRO)

· Promptly communicating to the CRO the need for Equipment Repairs.


Safety Activities

· Safeguard the employees by conforming to all facility safety policies.


Training Activities

· Assisting in developing and improving the facility's preventive and predictive maintenance programs


Job Requirements

· Requires rapid decision making skills to operate plant equipment.

· Tasks performed may require physical exertion.

· Respond to overtime and callout requests


Required Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:

· Minimum of 4 years' experience maintaining equipment for instrumentation and electrical within a power plant environment, except those qualified through the PSEG Energy Career Program

· Basic math skills, good verbal communications skills

· Proficiency in the use of power and precision tools.

· High School graduate or equivalency

· Must have successfully completed the POSS/MOSS pre-employment tests.


Desired Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:

· Grade 1 Maryland Stationary Engineer License

· College and/or Technical School Education.

· Power Generation, Chemical, Refinery, or Industrial Experience.

· Experience with equipment repair and control systems

· Combined Cycle Experience

· Sound Judgment, Strong Math & Communication Skills
