Communications Manager

 Position Description:

The Communications Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Communications and will work collaboratively with the programs, policy, membership and events departments to help increase brand awareness for ACORE, while strengthening our reputation as a leader on cross-cutting renewable energy business and policy issues.

We are looking for a talented self-starter with a keen attention to detail. He/she must have excellent writing skills, knowledge of the energy industry and federal legislative and regulatory processes are a plus. The right individual for this job will be driven to create engaging content that promotes and defends America’s renewable energy sector.

Key Job Duties

·        Craft and distribute ACORE’s daily and weekly newsletters, including the Renewable Business Daily, Renewable Business Review and the ACORE Member Update

·        Write, edit and proofread a wide variety of written content (e.g., press releases, op-eds, blogs, fact sheets, newsletters, issue briefs, executive quotes, talking points)

·        Monitor industry news, identifying opportunities for ACORE to weigh in and ensuring the organization is current on key topics

·        Work with the Vice President of Communications to collect and analyze data, including earned media coverage, website analytics, email marketing reports, and social media metrics

·        Manage regular updates to marketing and content calendars to inform the roll-out of various organizational products and events

·        Manage ACORE’s speakers’ bureau program and press lists in close coordination with the VP of Communications

·        Draft and schedule compelling content as needed for ACORE’s social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and website

·        Supervise interns on best practices, tools, and departmental procedures and protocols

·        Perform other tasks and miscellaneous support duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English or relevant field

·        Three to five years of PR/communications experience, preferably at an agency, trade association, Congressional office or clean energy company

·        Superb writing, editing, and proofreading skills (AP style) and a demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clean, concise and engaging copy

·        Facility to adapt to change and prioritize multiple tasks effectively under deadline pressure

·        The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, approaching issues with a nonpartisan, objective mindset

·        Working knowledge of media monitoring tools and digital services, such as Sprout Social, Muck Rack, WordPress and Google Analytics

·        Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
