Current research in the BTUS Division includes the development and application of building energy simulation, research on building controls, performance monitoring, glazings, window systems, high performance facades, management of peak electricity demand, and benchmarking of building energy performance.  This role will focus on commercial building energy diagnostics and control, and software tools but will collaborate with departmental staff on related projects.

This position will be filled at a II (Senior) or level III (Principal) dependent on experience.  This position will be hired at a level commensurate with the business needs; and skills, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.

What You Will Do:

• Provide technical expertise to the execution of defined task areas under technical scopes of the research.

• Assist commercial building domain scientists, engineers and stakeholders to conduct research in building performance monitoring, optimization, and fault detection and diagnostic tools.

• Perform energy modeling using interval data, to assess building performance and quantify project savings impacts, including determination of the best energy modeling method/tool for a given project scenario.

• Assist with designing protocols of new HVAC optimization and fault detection and diagnostics technologies.

• Contribute to develop new approaches to advance automated measurement and verification, fault detection and diagnostics, and integrated building control.

• Develop new control and analytical methods for efficient building operations.

• Participate in the diverse tasks related to conceptualizing, designing, building, developing, and testing relevant analytical approaches, and tools.

• Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and outreach materials for internal and external audiences.
