Watch Office Lead - Advisor

Position Overview:

The SCE Watch Office is responsible for monitoring, assessment, and reporting of incidents, accidents, and significant events across the enterprise. The Watch Office looks broadly across the company to ensure that all appropriate organizational units are engaged, coordinating an overall response, and escalating the companys response when appropriate.



This position will provide functional oversight of the Watch Office operations, manage staffing rosters, develop and maintain processes and procedures, and coordinate the work assignments of Watch Officers. Additionally, the lead will work closely with representatives across other business lines, such as Transmission and Distribution, Corporate Communications, Customer Service, Local Public Affairs, Information Technology, Power Production, Security, and Corporate Real Estate to build a common understanding of the role of the Watch Office and de-conflict any duplication of efforts or other emerging issues related to Watch Office operations. Supervisory responsibility for all Watch Office personnel will be executed by the Principal Manager of Operations with input from this position.



Typical Responsibilities:
Lead the Watch Office to provide information sharing support for business operations 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Develop and maintain standardized reporting structures and formats, ensuring appropriate analysis of information, and distribution to the appropriate audiences which spans from staff level to the most senior company executives.
Develop and administer Watch Office shift schedule, review timesheets for accuracy as requested by management.
Lead a team of six technical specialist Watch Officers, monitor performance expectations in alignment with goals and Company objectives, policies, and procedures, and provide input to management on employee performance.
Support Watch Office Team by providing timely feedback, coaching.
Promote the Companys safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
Identify, recommend and oversee implementation of new technologies to support watch operations and situational awareness tools for crisis response.
Work closely with other emergency managers to determine technology needs and work with the technology community to discover cutting edge solutions.
Identify critical information requirements for all operating units and develop business plans to ensure strategies are regularly updated to meet company needs.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:
Seven years of experience performing management/leadership functions such as leading a team, participating in the selection process, and/or providing coaching to others.
Seven years of experience operating a real time information analysis center, operations center, or dispatch center.
Experience responding to emerging real-time incidents for extended durations (days to weeks).
Experience creating editing, and/or proofreading detailed reports to convey technical real-time information to an executive audience.
Experience writing/creating processes, procedures, and guidelines for detailed operational tasks.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience managing a staff of exempt level employees.
Experience leading a selection process.
Experience conducting performance reviews, disciplinary/corrective actions, and producing developmental plans for employees.
Ability to understand/interpret technical information relating to SCE Operations in Grid/T&D, Information Technology / IT Telecom, Generation / Power Procurement, or other SCE technical areas.
Experience working in real-time operational or incident management functions at an electric utility.
Ability to manage a team through stressful circumstances including during emergencies / crisis.

Comments:
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA; however, the successful candidate may also be asked to have meetings at other SCE facilities within a reasonable distance from the office
