Engineer Utility Designer IV

Gainesville Regional Utilities, the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida, is seeking the best available senior level Engineer IV who will perform high level, independent, professional and technical Engineering work for an electric utility. The successful candidate will be required to support a wide variety of engineering projects, both as an individual contributor, project leader, and team leader. This is an excellent opportunity for variety and diversity in your job duties including hands on solutions, design, troubleshooting, and leadership.

To be considered for this position you must have a bachelor's degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited educational institution and at least 6 years' experience as an engineer with emphasis on fossil fueled steam units and industrial gas turbines for power generation
 
Depending on discipline area, the ideal candidate will have experience or certification in the following areas:

·         Utility boilers and heat recovery systems

·         Large power plant rotating equipment such as pumps, fans, blowers, turbines, and compressors

·         Piping systems and codes

·         Power plant auxiliary equipment

·         Predictive Technologies such as vibration analysis, I-R thermography, ultrasound, lube oil analysis, and motor circuit analysis

·         Knowledge of fossil steam driven turbine-generators, industrial gas turbines, and reciprocating engines.

·         Experience with the design, installation, commissioning/startup of the ABB/Bailey DCS for steam electric generating station applications, steam turbine controls, and gas turbine controls.

·         Extensive knowledge of ABB/Bailey Infi-90/Symphony DCS

·         Demonstrated experience with GE Mark V and Mark VIe gas turbine controls.

·         Strong knowledge of protective relaying systems for large generators and plant auxiliary systems and NERC regulations.

·         Strong knowledge of 480 volt and 4160 volt electric motors, motor control centers, breakers, and switchgear in utility plant applications

·         Good organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to solicit input and support of others at various levels in an organization.

·         Experience managing the following:
a. Contractors and various journeyman craft technicians
b. All phases of system improvement projects from design through construction to acceptance testing.
c. Capital projects, to include design review, writing job specifications, review of bids, selection of contractor, execution of project, commissioning of project, and facilitation of training as required.

·         Experience serving as a team leader coordinating the work of others.

·         SAP financial and work management systems and/or Infor EAM systems.

The minimum requirements for an Engineer IV are:
          Mechanical or Electrical engineer
