CHELCO is accepting applications for an Engineering Representative to work primarily in DeFuniak Springs and may report to other CHELCO locations as the cooperative needs.
ABOUT US
CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative employing more than 150 people and serving more than 50,000 accounts in Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes and Santa Rosa counties in the panhandle of Florida to include ownership, operation and maintenance of the electrical distribution and transmission systems on Eglin AFB. The cooperative owns and maintains 4,529 miles of line. About 3,211 miles are overhead lines and 1,318 are underground.
BASIC JOB DETAILS
In this position, the Engineering Representative designs high quality, well-integrated, reliable overhead and underground distribution power lines while striving to achieve member/customer satisfaction. Duties include, but arent limited to:
drawing staking sheets,
on-site staking,
using the National Electrical Safety Code, and
determining transformer and conductor size for services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent, preferred and 7-10 years directly related experience; or, two years of College/Associates Degree and 3 years directly related experience; or, Bachelors Degree and at least 2 years directly related experience.
Although willing to train the right candidate, the ideal applicant will have knowledge of RUS Uniform System of Accounts, RUS specifications, NESC, NEC, OSHA and local, state and federal codes. Effective working knowledge of the Cooperative system and service area. Effective working knowledge of the Cooperatives policies, procedures, construction standards, rates and service rules and regulations. Knowledge of the following, is also required:
Design knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, or models.
Engineering and technology knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production.
Computers knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
English language Ability to converse with internal and/or external customers in English.
Clerical knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
