The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut the third oldest field office is an innovator and incubator for many local-to-global conservation strategies, including conservation easements, climate resilience planning tools, green urban infrastructure, marine planning and freeing river flows. This Environmental Engineer position will advance key aspects of the Urban and Resilience programs within the Connecticut Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. The position will report direct to the Director of Science as part of a highly effective and growing team focused on urban conservation and community resilience. This position affords the opportunity to co-develop and install green infrastructure and nature-based solutions projects across urban to rural and coastal to inland situations. The position requires a details knowledge and background in environmental engineering or related fields with a particular emphasis on water management. The position also requires experience in community engagement with an emphasis on resilience and sustainability building at local neighborhood, municipal and regional levels. We thrive on collaborative approaches and encourage innovative ideas and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes:

Minimum Qualifications
Engineering degree and 5 years experience in environmental engineering or equivalent with a particular emphasis on water management. Additional emphasis on experience with community engagement on resilience and sustainability is highly desired.

Experience managing complex and/or multiple projects, including staffing and finances under deadlines.

Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.

Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.

Experience negotiating with diverse and demanding partners and clients.

Knowledge of municipal processes, permitting, and procedures related to engineering projects highly preferred.

5-7 years experience in environmental engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross cultural experience appreciated.
Demonstrated experience influencing, developing and implementing environmental engineering plans and projects.
Knowledge of current practices/standards in relevant discipline(s) and regions.
Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
Demonstrated experience in generating funding via grants and other fundraising activities.
