Engineer IV/Utility Designer IV

The ideal candidate will have mastered coursework in statics, dynamics, and mathematics, etc. and elective power courses, to support a future position in electric power distribution. Candidates will possess the ability to work independently after receiving specific and detailed instructions, as well as working with a diverse team, to creatively solve challenges associated with the electric distribution system.

Engineer IV/ Utility Designer IV will work within the electric distribution group and will be involved in routine and ad-hoc engineering tasks, which may include, but are not limited to: construction work order development for additions to the electric distribution system; enhancing existing facilities and/or the overall performance of the electric distribution system; learning and comprehending the development and proper usage of the electric distribution Standard Materials and Constructions Standards; utilization of modeling/analysis software to better understand distribution system performance and possible upgrades to increase performance; analyzing electrical outage patterns to determine possible distribution system improvements including determination of optimum setting/size for circuit protective devices.

To be considered for the Engineer IV level you must possess Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution.

Six (6) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility. Appropriate co-op time and/or an advanced degree in engineering, business or other relevant courses (e.g. planning, public administration, etc.) of study may be recognized for up to one year of experience.
You are expected to keep abreast of the latest Engineering advancements in field. Continuing education is required to maintain currency in assigned engineering discipline, regulatory and other related knowledge. You must possess a valid Florida Driver's license within 30 days of hire.
