The Energy Supply Division of Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU), seeks an Analyst, Senior for its Fuels Management Department. GRU is the fifth largest municipal electric utility in Florida.

As a diversified municipal utility provider GRU provides electricity, water, waste water services, communications/internet services, and natural gas for a local distribution company. The Fuels Management Department is responsible for the procurement and delivery of heavy fuels oils, light fuel oils, coal, biomass and natural gas for consumption in GRU generating units; the purchase of environmental commodities (environmental reagents for power generation) such as pebble lime and urea; and markets and sells combustion byproducts such as fly ash, bottom ash and scrubber waste. The Analyst, Senior (Senior Fuel Analyst) functions as the departments natural gas buyer, all department analysts are expected to backup analysts in other functional areas and participate in various technical and economic analyses. The position reports to the GRU Fuels Manager.

To be considered for this position you must have a bachelors degree from an accredited university in engineering, business, marketing, public administration, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, science or a related field (as determined by the hiring department) and three years progressively responsible experience in natural gas operations, utility analysis, fuels/energy analysis, financial, commodity markets, marketing analysis or a related field. Candidates with no degree will be considered with seven (7) years of progressively responsible related analytical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida drivers license is required at the time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.

The position may also be under filled as an Analyst ($44,174.00 - $65,975.00 Annually). The Analyst position requires a bachelors degree in business or public administration, finance, or a related field, and two (2) years of experience in financial, operational, fuels or marketing analysis, or six (6) years of related analytical experience (with no degree), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates that do not meet the experience requirements for Analyst, Senior, but do have two (2) years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will have:
Good organizational, time management and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to be effective as a member or leader of a team coordinating the use of company resources to solve complex problems requiring input from various departments and levels within GRU.
Working knowledge of energy/fuel markets.

Knowledge and Experience with the following:
Negotiation and administration of fuel supply agreements.
Procurement of natural gas, coal, fuel oils and/or biomass.
Knowledge of the principles of risk management in general and or specific knowledge of natural gas and power hedging.
Basic knowledge of power generation and fuel combustion.
Performing economic/financial analysis.
Pipeline nominations, scheduling and pipeline balancing of natural gas supplies.
Natural gas or fuel supply cost accounting
Experience managing/coordinating fuel suppliers, consultants and contractors.
Experience working with power plant production personnel.
Experience as a shippers representative with natural gas pipelines.
