Make an impact by leading a team whose primary role is to support gas pipeline safety compliance.
In this role, you will supervise engineering and technical analyst employees responsible for gas incident reporting, repetitive gas code compliance records and tracking, supporting MPSC Gas Safety
Staff inspections, and administering gas code and compliance assurance databases. Additionally, the Engineering Lead is responsible for formal regulatory reporting to state and federal regulators (MPSC and PHMSA), formulating technically sound responses to non-compliances and inspection forms, and providing guidance, interpretations, and coaching on gas code items (49 CFR 191 & 192 and Michigan Gas Safety Standards).
Scope of primary duties and responsibilities:
- Supervising Gas Regulatory Services team
- Formulating written technical responses to MPSC Non-Compliances
- Formulating responses to MPSC inspection forms
- Supporting MPSC field and office inspections
- Professional and leadership development/training
- Planning and compiling annual DOT reports
- Providing subject matter expertise on CE gas code/pipeline safety initiatives
- Providing code interpretations and technical guidance
- Supporting Root Cause Analyses and process improvement
- Drafting, reviewing, and submitting various PHMSA/MPSC regulatory submittals
Our ideal candidate qualifications include:
- Engineering degree or comparable STEM degree; advanced degree and/or PE licensure preferred
- 8+ years of related exempt work experience
- Excellent technical writing and editing skills
- Demonstrated people or project leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to organize a high volume of details
- Experience with Pipeline Safety/Michigan Gas Safety Standards
- Gas Utility Experience and an understanding of Gas System preferred
- Experience working with MPSC Gas Safety Staff preferred
