In this role you will provide specialized and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to complex power systems. The work involves evaluating and recommending changes to the monitoring on the power system; and providing support in reviewing system data, NERC data, and reliability reporting.

Scope of duties and responsibilities:

  • Collect, maintain, and analyze relay records in order to validate correct relay and breaker operation
  • Assist engineers with establishing monitoring standards and specifying monitoring systems
  • Provide analysis of system faults and fault locations to the field so that the system can be restored quickly and reduce customer outage minutes
  • Proactively evaluate methods to reduce costs, increase reliability and efficiency in overall fault analysis processes
  • Provide support in reviewing system data, NERC data, and reliability reporting

Our ideal candidate qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a scientific or technical field with 2 years of experience in the electrical/power industry

  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of complex power system performance and operations; knowledge of protection and control schemes a plus

  • Strong analytical capabilities

  • Proficiency in data entry and database handling, analysis, and interpretation is preferred; programming abilities and database development is desired

  • Familiarity with one-line, schematic and detailed electrical drawings a plus
