Advance your career by becoming a subject matter expert for Gas Distribution Pipeline Engineering and Construction activities!
Overseeing statewide technical engineering support of engineering and construction activities, you will have responsibility for: design reviews and approvals for system improvement and new business main design; reviewing written complex operating procedures: upholding design quality and consistency statewide; and conducting engineering project construction audits, etc. You will lead in various improvement initiatives, integration of best practices, training development, engineering design issues resolution, procedures/standards alignment, appropriate material selection and acquisition, etc. Additionally, you will provide field leadership within Distribution Pipeline Engineering and will align with Gas Operations and Construction counterparts.
Scope of duties and responsibilities:
- Applies company design and construction standards to review detailed non-routine engineering designs and construction specifications for gas main and service alterations
- Plans, reviews and approves design and construction of Gas Distribution systems
- Provides engineering review services with accuracy, integrating all applicable governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget
- Assists in client contact and communication, and provides technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public
Our ideal candidate qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 3 years of applied ABET engineering experience (OR) an Associate's degree in a scientific/technical field with 5-7 years of experience in Gas Distribution design (OR) extensive (10+ years) company experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance

Ability to independently evaluate, select and apply engineering theory and practices, and solve a range of straightforward problems

Knowledge and/or experience in utility operations, including Gas Distribution design, construction and complex written operating procedures

An understanding of engineering projects that includes design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation

General knowledge of utility trends and proven excellent communication skills
The location for this position could vary: Macomb, Royal Oak, Flint, Livonia, Howell, Groveland, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Saginaw, Michigan.
