Take the lead by managing a team of Electric Dispatchers at our Grand Rapids Service Center of the Electric Dispatch & Scheduling Department, responsible for Consumers Energy’s 24/7 Low Voltage Distribution (LVD) electric dispatch operations!
As an effective leader and change agent, you will help lead the Distribution, Operations, Engineering & Transmission (DOET) area through change initiatives which optimize efficiency and customer service, serving customers in a safe fashion, while providing quick response to their needs.
Scope of duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Initiating and implementing new processes to promote the highest level of customer value
- Implementation and enhancements of the LVD Dispatch Project
- Electric dispatch operations for both regular and after working hours; work may be performed on multiple shifts, including irregular hours, and can require working outside regularly assigned work center locations
- Supporting field operations and their staff; considered the "go to" person to meet key performance indicators such as: Customer Outage Minutes, Down Wire Response, 8-hour Normal by, JD Power Reliability Scores, and other MPSC measures
- Participating in and/or directing emergency or non-emergency situations that can impact employee and public safety, system integrity, customer interruptions and services
- Providing crews radio support and expertise from the Work Management Centers to the local headquarters (this includes preparing and approving switching and tagging clearances and issuing field control and distribution authority)
- On-call storm coverage; considered a critical position for storm operations and restoration
- Providing leadership and training on the following systems: ARCOS, SAP (front/back office), OMAR, OMS, Radio Field System, and Trackstar
- Making staffing decisions, evaluating employee performance, and managing their personal development
- Meeting consistent compliance with regulatory and code requirements
Our ideal candidate qualifications:

Bachelor's or Associates degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred, or equivalent work experience

5–10 years of experience in Electric Operations (Electric Dispatch Operations preferred) and/or Customer Relations; experience in planning, project management, scheduling, business analysis, and work management are desired

Advanced knowledge and training in various operating systems, support and assistance to Electric field personnel

Strong team communication and leadership skills

Ability to function calmly and professionally in emergency situations

Understanding Regulatory requirements for Electric Systems
