Help us lead the HVD Lines Design Team, responsible for the design of all of Consumers Energy’s 46kV and 138kV electric distribution line assets!

In this role, you will oversee the design of complex and time sensitive projects for a region that covers the eastern half of Consumers Energy’s High Voltage Distribution electric service territory. Additionally, you will have direct responsibility for supervising technicians who are designing capital HVD projects for reliability and capacity needs.

Scope of duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the creation of documents needed to construct the HVD Lines designed projects
  • Providing analysis of equipment and material applications for the design and construction of HVD lines
  • Review the most recent changes to the National Electric Safety Code and incorporate these changes and other best engineering practices into Consumers Energy HVD line designs
  • Communicating with persons outside the company concerning topics related to HVD Lines such as responding to notifications and requests from county and state road commissions, private individuals and corporations, and other utility representatives

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an engineering job function, with an understanding/knowledge of electric lines construction practices and limitations and high voltage distribution lines materials

  • Self-motivation, exhibiting a positive and professional attitude

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills, with ability to work effectively across multiple organizations and levels of staff

  • Ability to handle multiple projects, meets deadlines, provide appropriate solutions to problems, and make decisions in a team environment.
