Help us maintain the integrity of our HVD and Distribution SCADA systems!

In this fast paced role, you will develop/maintain real-time applications, databases, and displays used by System Control and Merchant Operations to monitor and control the grid. This will include support responsibilities for: Electric SCADA, Generation Control, Volt/Var optimization, historian interfaces, protocols (DNP, Modbus, ICCP), communication hardware, and coordination of real-time information exchanged with the MISO, METC, and DTE.

Typical assignments and projects:

  • Develop and maintain real-time system models, databases, and applications to monitoring and controlling the grid (SCADA, AGC, State Estimation, Volt/Var Control)
  • Represent the organization in meetings to support new and emergent projects
  • Support and troubleshoot SCADA communication protocols (DNP, Modbus)
  • Coordinate ICCP data exchange requirements with MISO, METC, and DTE
  • Support departmental NERC Compliance requirement
  • Provide support for multi-year projects: to upgrade SCADA communications; deploy Distribution SCADA and Automation; deploy Distribution Capacitor Controls and sensors
  • Support the process for exchanging network model and supporting data as required for registration as a transmission operator
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support to control centers on a rotating basis

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science

  • 2+ years of applied exempt engineering work experience, with a strong background in utility operations

  • Familiarity with SCADA and proficiency in using programming tools such as C/C++ and SQL

  • Ability to independently evaluate, select and apply engineering theory

  • Strong communication, organization, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
