MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE

(GOLD Program- 2015)

Con Edison -- A Leader in Energy

We have the privilege of lighting New York City's five boroughs as well as the growing business centers of Westchester County. We illuminate operating rooms where medical miracles occur, bring up the lights on Broadway, and energize one of the world's largest mass transportation systems. We are the power behind Wall Street and the corner store. And, most important, we transmit and distribute the electricity and gas used in millions of homes.  By focusing on what we do best - delivering energy over a reliable transmission and distribution system - Con Edison has grown into one of the nation's leading utilities. We serve 3.1 million electric customers, 1.1 million gas customers, and 1,825 steam customers. Our service area includes the five boroughs of New York City and parts of neighboring Westchester County. Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the nation's largest investor-owned energy companies with $12 billion in annual revenues and approximately $41 billion in assets.

In 2013, Con Edison was named as a top employer among energy, gas and oil companies in its “Best of the Best” issue, Hispanic Network Magazine. Each year, Hispanic Network Magazine evaluates the nation’s employers, supplier-diversity programs, law enforcement and government agencies, colleges, and graduate schools. The evaluation identifies organizations that create an environment of teamwork in which Hispanics and other minorities have access to business and career opportunities.

In 2011, Con Edison ranked 17th among Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s “Best 100 Corporate Citizens” and second among all the utilities in the ranking, according to the magazine’s 12th annual survey. Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens list is known as one of the world’s top corporate responsibility rankings based on publicly-available information, and is recognized by PR Week as one of America’s top three most-important business rankings.

In 2010, Con Edison has been named one of the “10 Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America,” by the Business Committee for the Arts (BCA).  BCA is a division of Americans for the Arts, a leading organization for advancing the arts in the country.  Con Edison supports nearly 200 arts organization, large and small, through our service area, including arts, dance and theatre programs.  Arts education and diversity are at the heart of Con Edison’s commitment to the arts.  Over the past 40 years, the company has donated more than $100 million to arts and cultural organizations. Con Edison supports a range of organizations such as the Arts and Business Council of New York, the Chocolate Factory, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Roundabout Theater and the Studio Museum of Harlem, and many more.

These achievements are the direct result of the dedication shown by our 13,000 employees, who work in such diverse areas of employment as Customer Operations; Central Field Services; Substations; Electric, Gas, and Steam Operations; Information Resources; Environment, Health and Safety; Law; Finance; Auditing; Energy Management; Maintenance Services, and all the other departments and groups that make up Con Edison.

Recent college graduates and college seniors are invited to join the exciting, growing utility industry by applying to Con Edison's Growth Opportunities for Leadership Development (GOLD) program and gain insight on the way we work at Con Edison. We're looking for recent and upcoming college graduates with degrees in computer science, accounting, finance, business administration, management or engineering (electrical, civil, chemical, environmental, or mechanical). Through a series of practical, rotational job assignments, mentoring, and senior management guidance, GOLD program participants tackle challenging supervisory and project-based jobs that provide highly valued work experience and gain insights on the way we work at Con Edison.
