In this fast paced, integral role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of Consumers Energy’s High Voltage Distribution (HVD) electric system, as well as complying with all NERC standards applicable to CE’s HVD system.

Scope of key responsibilities:

• Analyzing the operation and monitoring of High Voltage Distribution (HVD) substations, lines and interconnection points with transmission providers for both normal and emergency restoration conditions

• Alleviating Operating Security Limit violations by independently taking appropriate actions up to and including shedding load, independent of approval or concurrence of any other entity

• Supervising administration of switching and tagging on our HVD and LVD electric system to ensure outages are executed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner in accordance with Consumers

• Energy, NERC, ITC, MIOSHA, MPSC, MISO and RFC standards

• Directing the System Control & Monitoring team during scheduled and unscheduled events in the “Real Time” System Control Center

Your qualifications will include:

• Two year technical degree in Electrical field or equivalent education and/or related experience in Control Center, Relaying, Substations or Lines
• 5 years of experience in electric distribution (LVD/HVD) operations
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision making skills
• Exceptional crisis/emergency management skills
• Ability to obtain NERC (RC) and LSC certification within 6-12 months
• Availability to work a rotating shift, including weekends, holidays and emergency/storm situations
