Excellent opportunity to lead the Mechanical Engineering section of our Operating Services Department in Engineering Services, where you will direct a staff of 7 professionals in the industrial design, bid evaluation, mechanical codes, standards, best practices and analysis methods regarding Consumers Energy's power generation facilities for both consulting and construction services.
Scope of responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing strategic plans that support goals, objectives and resource management, including leadership of in-house and contract engineering resources
- Providing engineering design and plant engineering resources for the successful execution of projects
- Providing timely technical support to Operations and Maintenance personnel to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency of generating assets
- Overseeing and maintaining compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and practices, as well as corporate policies including employee conduct, discipline, safety and development training, IT, and NERC-CIP requirements
- Monitoring project results to meet cost, quality, schedule and project charter requirements
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; an advanced engineering degree and a Professional Engineering license in the State of Michigan are preferred
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with 5 years of experience managing, supervising, or leading a group within an engineering organization
- Demonstrated experience working in an engineering design environment performing duties such as engineering calculations and mechanical design, generation plant failure investigations and root cause analysis
- Exceptional communication, leadership and teamwork skills
- Willingness and availability for routine in-state travel to company locations, and out-of-state travel as needed
