Mechanical Engineer - Energy Supply/Utility Design Engineer
Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU), the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida, seeks an Energy Supply Engineer IV/Utility Design Engineer IV who will perform high level, independent, professional and technical mechanical engineering work. The successful candidate will be required to support a wide variety of engineering projects, both as an individual contributor and as a project leader and effectively represent GRU to numerous outside entities.
GRU is a self-generating multi-service utility owned by the City of Gainesville. Our combined services make us the most comprehensive utility service provider in the state. We serve approximately 90,000 electric customers in the area and also offer natural gas, water, wastewater, and telecommunications services.

To be considered for this position you must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution and six (6) years of power plant experience.
The Ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Good organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to solicit input and support of others at various levels in an organization.
- Knowledge and understanding of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, as well as Root Cause Failure Analysis Methodology.
- Working knowledge of the ASME BPVC and ASME Power Piping code.
