Advance your career and lead an electric distribution crew responsible for safe, efficient and cost effective construction, metering and storm restoration projects.
In this hands-on role, you will supervise a team of typically 12-20 bargaining unit staff in the greater Kalamazoo area, including electric service workers, electric lines crews and electric meter workers who work multiple shifts with 7-day coverage. You will also be responsible for managing successful headquarter business operations in a cost effective fashion while maintaining a safe work environment. The work involves a mixture of standard to advanced supervisory and operating responsibilities, including management of non-company employees.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Planning and managing the scope, schedule and cost of assigned construction projects
- Developing direct reports in both business knowledge and technical skills
- Collaboration with various departments, peers and business partners
- Initiating and leading change to improve results
- Administering the Working Agreement while dealing effectively with local union leadership
Qualifications for this position include:
- In-depth knowledge of electric distribution operations and construction
- 2.5 years of successful performance as an Electric Field Leader; 3-5 years as a Journeyman Lineman or 2 years of management experience is preferred; construction management/project management experience is also preferred
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to lead change efforts in a competitive business environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices and procedures
- A thorough understanding of the Working Agreement
- Availability and willingness to work off-hours, including on-call, evenings and weekends
The position will be filled at the highest level depending on qualifications and experience.
