Position Title: Assistant Professor – Economics of Energy, Water and Food Systems

Appointment: Tenure track (9 - 10 month appointment) Research and Teaching

Department and Programs: The Department of Agricultural Economics in College Station, Texas, is a large, diverse Department with a broad array of programs, faculty, and students focusing on the application of economic analysis to firm level decisions in agriculture, natural resources, agribusiness, community economics and policy. This position will contribute to the advancement of research and teaching programs in the area of firm level and societal decision making related to energy and its impacts on water and the global food system. The Department seeks individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to our Departmental academic environment.

General Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to focus on energy economics and how energy relates to water and food systems. Research responsibilities include the application of economic principles to an integrated analysis of energy, food, and water issues affecting Texas as well as the national and global economies. Ability to identify and evaluate the economic consequences of issues related to conventional and alternative energy development is paramount. Teaching responsibilities include the economics of energy and other courses as necessary. Teaching load will typically include three to four courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Mentoring of undergraduate students and advising of graduate students is expected. Successful candidates will have excellent communications and teaching skills. The development of a nationally/internationally recognized research program, along with external funding support is expected. Interdisciplinary involvement with the Texas A&M University Energy and Water Resources Institutes, other departments and stakeholders is encouraged.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in agricultural, energy, or environmental economics or economics, with a strong background in theory and quantitative methods. A focus on specialized fields pertinent to the study of conventional energy and its interactions with water and food systems is preferred.
