You’re a highly motivated electrical engineer with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and are able to motivate and develop others.

As a key contributor within the Substation Design & Standards (SD&S) Division, you will provide significant and ongoing support to the Layout and Contract Engineering Sections of the division. The role involves the creation and updating of High Voltage Distribution and Transmission Substation Standards to support Transmission Owner/Transmission Operator (TO/TOP) Compliance requirements and substation design workload. Additionally, you will support Capital and O&M projects in electric substations and be directly responsible for supervising contractors and/or technicians.

 

Among your typical responsibilities, you will:

  • Develop scope, designs, drawing updates, etc. to support contracted services or department needs
  • Supervise and review work of contractors and or technicians, manage workload and set priorities
  • Coordinate design projects and provide support to production teams on major customer projects, new substation installations, major component replacements, transformer replacements, etc.
  • Implement process improvements, provide presentations and or training as needed to support ongoing technical development
 

Qualifications for this position include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; obtaining Professional Engineer licensure in MI is expected
  • Strong technical skills; prior Substation Design experience a plus
  • Supervisory experience desired
  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural team environment
  • SAP experience a plus; CAD, MS Access, MS Excel, programming skills a plus
