Just One Look – See and Become a Part of Michigan’s Best and Brightest!
At Consumers Energy, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Our ability to deliver reliable electric and natural gas services begins with our commitment to reflecting the unique character and diverse perspectives of the 6.5 million people we serve across Michigan. As a major Midwest company with more than 7,000 employees, we’re powered by the Value of All: the idea that every individual matters, and that the best way to serve our community is to be an active part of it.
Excellent opportunity to lead a variety of failure analysis and materials characterization projects within our Laboratory Services area!

You will be assigned projects which are self-managed, and therefore must have the ability to work independently on multiple projects while containing project cost and delivering reports within the expected deadline.
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a major in Metallurgy or Materials Science; should possess or be working toward PE license
- 5 + years of related experience with a metallurgical background
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- A thorough understanding of generating plant systems as well as metallographic practices, scanning electron microscopy, and mechanical testing is preferred
- Previous supervisory or management experience is a plus
- Training and/or experience working within laboratory quality systems such as A2LA is preferred
