AABE Washington DC Chapter Mission Statement

The Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter is one of two chapters in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE). It is a strong, viable team-oriented chapter with committed leadership and dedicated membership.

AABE is the nation’s premier association of energy professionals that draws its members from all sectors of the industry. Its unique membership includes all levels of leadership and management working toward common goals.

AABE’s mission is to ensure the input of African Americans and other minorities into the discussion and development of energy policies, regulations, R&D technologies and environment issues. AABE’s mission is carried out through programs and activities in four major areas: Energy Policy Development; Career and Professional Development; Information Dissemination; and Scholarships & Awards.

The Goals of the Washington DC Metropolitan Area Chapter are as follows:

• To support the agenda of the National Office of AABE;
• To increase awareness of energy-related issues within our communities;
• And to provide value-added programming to our membership.

These goals are designed to incorporate activities sponsored by the National Office of AABE, to impact the community through student activities, mentoring programs and educational forums and to provide opportunities for leadership and service for the membership.
