Southeastern Missouri/Southern Illinois Chapter Home

Welcome to the AABE Southeastern Missouri/Southern Illinois (SMSI) Chapter Website

Dear Friends:

The Southeastern Missouri/Southern Illinois Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is one of nine chapters in the Midwest region of the organization. Headquartered in St. Louis, we are a relatively new chapter, chartered in March 2005. We currently have over 30 members from seven different companies. These companies include (but not limited to): Ameren, Southwestern Electric Coop., Laclede Gas Company, GSM Development, the Human Development Corporation of Metropolitan St. Louis, Louis Dreyfus and Peabody Energy.

Our mission includes recruiting and increasing the presence and positions of African-Americans in energy related careers; increasing the awareness of and encouraging African-American students to pursue energy related careers; to serve as a resource on local and national energy issues; and to interact and network with other, local African-American groups to increase the synergies and viability of our area’s African-American professional population.

Like-minded professionals in all energy sectors (oil, gas, electricity, nuclear, renewables, government, technology, energy services and water) are welcome to join. Please visit our website and learn more about what membership in AABE can do for you, your career, and your company. We look forward to seeing you.

Sincerely,

Brian Leonard
