Dear Members and Guests:

It's been a busy week to kick off this year.  Congratulations to the 2017 SCCAABE Officers!  I'm excited about this year and about working with them and all of you.  I've had the honor of working with Porter's leadership in 2016 and am looking forward to what the S.C. Chapter can accomplish in 2017.  Below is a list of a few goals that we'll look to reach this year:

  • Establishment of a Past Presidents' Council.  I'm in the process of reaching out to  those leaders who have come before me in order to ensure that we keep the SCCAABE strong, vibrant and on the right track.  Their collective wisdom and experience of serving the organization will be utilized in a more official capacity.  Stay tuned for more.
  • Promotion of SCCAABE within the state of S.C. and being more visible.  We'll explore more opportunities to contribute to the community as well as to SCANA and its interests.  AS SCANA continues to look at diversity within the company, I'm hopeful that SCCAABE members will have more of an opportunity to be part of the dialogue.  We'll also look to partnerships with the Columbia Urban League, S.C. State University, the Community Relations Council, Claflin University and others to ensure that we are making a viable contribution to the community.
  • Establishment of a closer relationship with National.  We've enjoyed a great relationship with the national AABE.  It's my goal to help blend the membership experience to be fully of the S.C. Chapter and fully of the national organization.  I'm hopeful that we can arrange more opportunities to interact with AABE's regional and national officers and create a richer experience for members of SCCAABE.
  • Continuation of the onboarding of Santee Cooper and other utilities to be part of the S.C. Chapter of AABE.  We are blessed to be a part of a company which suppors AABE, its mission, its activities and its members.  I see us as SCANA employees being ambassadors to the national AABE as well as AABE members being ambassadors to SCANA and other host energy providers.  We are on the precipice of something great...the growth of our Chapter.

Looking forward to a great year,

Pamela Bynoe-Reed
