Indiana Chapter History

The Indiana Chapter of AABE was founded and organized in April, 2001 by Lafayette Jordan with the assistance of Barrett Hatches. By laws and election of officers were established in 2002. National headquarters was petitioned for membership in January, and membership was granted at the National Conference in Dearborn, Michigan. Our membership consists of professionals from (but not limited to): Indianapolis Power & Light, Indiana Michigan Power, NiSource, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), Duke Energy, Vectren Energy Delivery, American Electric Power (AEP), The Midwest Independent System Operator (Midwest ISO), Citizens Gas & Coke Utility, and Mays Chemical Company.

We have partnered with utility companies, social service, health agencies, and vendors, such as Lowe’s, Home Depot and Menards in sponsoring energy fairs throughout Indiana. Our Chapter participated in Career Day events within in the school districts in which we live and work. We are a fairly young chapter; we have goals and objectives to become one of the AABE’s outstanding Chapters.
