Dot Harris Named 2010 AABE Chairman's Cup Recipient

The American Association of Blacks in Energy awarded LaDoris "Dot" Harris its prestigious Clarke R. Watson Chairman's Cup at the33rd Annual Conference in Columbus, OH. Ms. Harris was recognized for her leadership in the organization's Energy Entrepreneurs Program. Through her efforts, the organization has increased its committment to entrepreneurs and minority business development. Ms. Harris led the development of the Entrepreneurs database on the organization's website, an Entrepreneur's Forum at the conference, where small businesses share best practices and establish relationships with larger companies in the energy industry, and important agreements with other private sector minority business development organizations. "This has been a labor of love for me, committee Vice Chair Tonya Wicks and other committee members. Our goal is to increase the impact and visibility of our energy entrepreneurs in our organization, our companies, and our communities," said Ms. Harris.
Dot Harris is the 18th person to be awarded this honor. The Chairman's Cup was established in 1993 and is given in recognition of outstanding service by an AABE member or staff person, selected by the Chair of the Board of Directors as one who has distinguished himself in the organization through promoting the growth and vitality of the organization and enhancing its mission as a resource for energy policy making. It is names the Clarke R. Watson Chairman's Cup in recognition of the AABE's late founder, an entrepreneur in his own right.
"Dot's leadership of the Energy Entrepreneur Program has brought significant growth to the organization," said Frank Stewart, President and COO, of the AABE. "We are indeed grateful for her leadership in this very important area."
