We areseeking 15 volunteers to join us for Give A Day RVA – A Hands On Greater Richmond event on Saturday, September 23rd 2017 from 9 AM – 12PM. Give a Day RVA is a regional day of service allowing volunteers from across the Richmond area to make a difference at one of many organized volunteer opportunities. Hands On’s nonprofits and community partners, in the surrounding localities will also host projects at area parks, schools, and more, making this truly a regional day of service.  After the event, you can join other groups for a regional celebration at the RVA Street Art Festival, happening Sept 22-24, 2017, at the Diamond for activities, vendors, food, drink, and the opportunity to watch live muralists in action.

Volunteers have the option to participate in 1 of these 3 volunteer activities:

 

Windowsand BoxesThe Doorways: 4 hours: 9 AM – 12 PM: 5 volunteers needed

Volunteers will construct/tape and decorate/wrap large cardboard donation boxes for our annualHoliday collection drive. Volunteers will also clean windows, railings and balconies on 5 guest floors. These boxes will be spread amongst partner companies to collection items for guests during the Holiday season.

 

Spruce the Sprout- YWCA of Richmond: 4 hours: 9 AM – 12 PM: 5 volunteers needed

Volunteers will paint bathrooms, hang new bulletin boards for art work and assemble ribbons for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Sprucing up the bathrooms and hanging bulletin boards give the school a new look for our youngest clients. Assembling the ribbons will help us bring awareness to Domestic Violence as we go to several engagements in the month of October.

 

Day of Play-Children's Museum of Richmond: 4 hours: 9 AM – 12 PM: 5 volunteers needed

Volunteers will staff activity tables (related to Hispanic Heritage month, MagnaTiles or other STEM related activities, face paint, etc.).  Volunteers may also prep materials for our field trip programs. Volunteers may also dress up as characters (potentially Pooh, Piglet, Tiger, Cookie Monster, Seymour the Dinosaur).
