National Grid is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world - covering Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and the UK.  The group’s strategic focus is built on managing a portfolio of assets that have a sustainable mix of cash generation, growth and risk to deliver an overall balance between long-term capital growth and cash generation to the benefit of shareholders.

National grid owns and operates the transmission network in England and Wales. They also serve as a system operator (SO) for Great Britain, and the offshore electricity transmission regime by coordinating and directing electricity flows onto and over the transmission system, while balancing generation supply and user demand. In the northeastern US, they operate 50 fossil fuel powered stations on Long Island, totaling 3.8 GW, and 21 MW of solar generation in Massachusetts.  They also own part of the inter-connectors with France and the Netherlands. National Grid’s electric distribution networks serve around 3.5 million customers in the U.S. In the UK, there are eight regional gas distribution networks, four of which are owned by National Grid, delivering gas to around 10.9 million customers on behalf of 37 shippers. Additionally, National Grid has gas distribution networks in Upstate and Downstate New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, serving around 3.6 million customers.
