Why attend this?

Clear communication is key to successful professional and personal interactions.  However, you may not always take time to analyze how your natural ways of interacting affects others.  Knowing your natural preferences and the preferences of others can enhance your ability to communicate.  The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self-assessment tool that can help you understand your own personal preferences with respect to gathering and absorbing information, processing information, making decisions, and interacting with people, among other things.  It is an instrument that is frequently used in the work environment for team building, leadership development and enhancing interpersonal relationships (e.g. communication, conflict management, decision making).

Guest Speaker – Gerard Parent, Consultant at VDOT Learning Center

Gerry is a senior performance consultant with the VDOT Learning Center.  He has worked in the training field for 30 years and started his career at Virginia Power in the Nuclear Training Division where he worked for 15 years.  He left to start his own business but returned to the corporate world at Capital One and finally landing at VDOT where he’s been for the last 8 years.  Gerry’s passion is working with future leaders by focusing on their interaction and performance management skills.  He is a certified MBTI facilitator by the Center for Applications of Psychological Type.
