AABE-VA Member Spotlight: Mr. Jeff Washington

February 6, 2017

Congratulations to Jeff Washington, former AABE Virginia Chapter President (2016), who was inducted into Maggie L. Walker High School Sports Hall of Fame on January 31, 2017, before the boys’ basketball game.  Jeff was a record setting star running back in the high school’s undefeated (10-0-0) 1975 football season, and captain of the wrestling and track teams.  His leadership values are still being shared at Dominion Virginia Power.  To name a few of Jeff’s high school sports accomplishments, he ran more than 2,000 yards over two football seasons, named the Most Valuable Player in the 1975 Armstrong vs. Walker Football Classic and captured the Central Region’s #1 Running Back crown (1975 Season), and more.

Jeff believes in being a servant-leader.  He has enjoyed a deep and lengthy commitment to the community by volunteering at his church, and has served on several non-profit boards in Hampton Roads and Richmond.

Jeff is proud of being born and raised in the City of Richmond and his attendance of Richmond Public Schools before graduating from The Virginia Military Institute with a degree in Economics.

When asked about the event, Jeff said, “Looking back, it was an honor to play Football, Wrestle and run Track with the teammates, coaches and teams.  I learned pride, honor and respect while learning how to compete and win for the kelly green and gold (school colors).  The teachers, students and community had an immeasurable impact that I will cherish for the remainder of my life.  It was an honor being inducted into the Maggie L. Walker Hall of Fame.”
