The Mississippi Chapter Scholarship Luncheon

May 12, 2011
Napoleon Johnson, vice-president, customer operations, Entergy Mississippi, Inc., was keynote speaker.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Marcus Daniel, a senior at Brandon High School; Brianna O’Neil, a senior also at Brandon High School and Justin Johnson, the Don E. Meiners’ recipient, a senior at Lanier High School in Jackson.

AABE provided two $1000 scholarships and one $2000 award during the annual event. The top award is the Donald E. Meiners Scholarship, named for the former president of Entergy Mississippi. Meiners was instrumental in the founding of AABE’s Mississippi chapter in 1990 and continues to be an enthusiastic supporter.

Justin Johnson’s application was also submitted to compete for the regional scholarship. Justin competed with applicants from TX and Louisiana. It was unanimous and everyone on the committee was impressed that Justin had been working to create software that would aid in analyzing the water from the Gulf Oil Explosion.  He was selected as the Southwest Regional winner.
